Original Sin in Modern Western Society

The concept of "original sin" is probably one of the best tactics to gain both wealth and power. This worked for religions, but also worked for socio-political ideologies. Convince people that they are morally deficient because of something they have no control over like immutable traits and/or the actions of their ancestors. Then convince them that YOU have the only way to redemption. If anyone disagrees, mark them as immoral heretics who will mentally corrupt society and must be eithero converted or silenced. Because nobody but the leader will perfecty pass the purity tests or be completely "unproblematic", it’s easy to quell dissent.
