The glorification of victimhood to spread ideology is not unique to the 21st century or to Western civilization. This method proved successful over 2000 years ago. It lead to the deification of an oppressive empire’s capital punishment victim. The victim’s glorification was so successful that his ideology took over the empire and shaped our world today. Even the instrument used to torture him to death is still a sacred symbol today.

It’s therefore not surprising to see ideologues today portraying themselves as oppressed victims. It’s a proven strategy to gain power.
Getting someone to accept and "celebrate" their victimhood is one of the best marketing strategies ever invented. Integrating your "intersectional victimhood status" to your identity means that external factors are completely to blame for your circumstances. It’s not your fault. It’s society, the patriarchy, socialism, capitalism, woke-ism, racism, sexism, or any kind of “phobia” you can think of that’s the problem. Because you’re in no way responsible for these ills, all you need is to buy the products, services, political candidates, and/or ideologies to solve them.
